I just like the absurdity going on in this image. Its engaging.

week 8

I really just enjoy the composition of this photo and the interaction between the two subjects, and their gestures.

Richard Benson. Alisa Benson. 2004.

I enjoy the primary colors and composition.

Paul Graham. New Orleans (Woman Eating). 2004

This image shows a glimpse of humanity.

Stephanie Chernikowski. Sonic Youth. 1983. Black-and-white photograph, 11 x 17" (27.9 x 43.2 cm). The Museum of Modern Art Library.

I chose this photograph because there is something interesting that this says about music culture and Sonic Youth is bad ass.

Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown in Las Vegas, 1966

This photograph is interesting to me because you are able to have various views. There is the view of whats happening in the car, outside of the car, and in the rearview mirror.

I chose this photograph because I find self portraits to be very interesting in the way that a person chooses to portray themselves. I just really like Mapplethorpe's intense expression.

I like the way the painting becomes somewhat of an artificial backround in this photograph. And the way it juxtoposes itself with the photo I took of Sarah.

This is my friend Lauren pissing. She looks gorgeous in this photo and is posing even when I am capturing her in an intimate and private moment. She doesnt seem to mind though.

I took this photographer at work. It is the view I sit and stare at everyday. The weather created a really beautiful and calming feeling which is what i feel when I look back at this photo.

William Eggleston, Jackson, Mississippi, not dated

I love the oddness in this image. The way it is centered and the woman looks slightly off gaurd, or not ready. I also like the strangeness in the way her dress, swing cushion and plants in the backround all blend together. Fantastic.

Ralph Eugene Meatyard, Untitled (Boy In Old Man's Mask With Doll), 1960

This image strikes me simply in its eerie and strange content.

Cindy Sherman, Untitled Film Still #15, 1978

In general, this photograph strikes me aesthetically in the way that Cindy Sherman poses herself, as well as the light coming in from the window. I also am fascinated in the way Sherman depicts typical feminine roles.

I like how I photographed this directly into the sun and how the sun rays are hitting my lover's face.

I like the the blurry red tone of this photo and the bright pink nails.

This is a photograph I took of my friend Margaret. I think this photo speaks pretty clearly about itself. I just love her expression and the ridiculous popsicle.

Larry Sultan, My Mother Posing for Me, from the series Pictures from Home, 1984

I like the composition and color in this photograph. The staging of this photograph shows a slight awkwardness or discomfort in the old woman.I like what the photographer chose the leave, and leave out in the frame.

Anna Fox, Hampshire Pram Race, 2006, from the series Back to the Village

This scares me and is really interesting at the same time. I am very interested in what is going on here.

I am intrigued by the oddness and humor of this photo, and the possibility of what this may reflect about feminine roles.
